Mike Vanasse founded Vanasse Law in 2009, a Lancaster law firm solely dedicated to representing injured workers. Mike brings more than 36 years of experience litigating workers’ compensation cases. He has handled thousands of these cases and is committed to obtaining maximum benefits for his clients.

Beginning in 1990, Mike worked for a large law firm that represented insurance companies and self-insured companies in workers’ compensation cases. He obtained invaluable insight from his experience as to how insurance companies think, what strategies they may use to deny or reduce benefits, and how to counter-act them. In 1998 Mike left that firm and joined Nikolaus & Hohenadel, a regional firm based in Lancaster. As a partner, Mike helped grow the firm’s workers’ compensation practice.

Mike has earned a reputation in the legal community as one of the most respected workers’ compensation attorneys in the area. He is certified as a workers’ compensation specialist by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and has held the certification for over 10 years. He has also been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in multiple years and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Mike is a frequent lecturer and guest speaker to various Bar organizations and professional organizations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the Lancaster Bar Association. He has twice been asked to serve as the Chair of the Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section.

Mike graduated in 1985 from Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island, with honors. Mike then moved to Pennsylvania in 1985 and attended the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While in law school he was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board and was selected to represent the school in a national competition as a member of the Constitutional Law Moot Court Team. Mike met his wife Julie, also a local attorney, while in law school. Immediately after graduating law school in 1988 and taking the Pennsylvania Bar Examination that summer, Mike and Julie move to Lancaster to begin their legal careers.

Mike and Julie have made Lancaster their home for 38 years. They raised three children here and are extremely fortunate that all three of their children and spouses live in Lancaster as well. They are also thoroughly enjoying being grandparents to a one-year-old grandson. In his spare time Mike enjoys spending time with his family, biking, reading, traveling and rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
